Welcome to Italian Level A1—a beginner-level course designed to introduce you to the Italian language and culture.
For this level, we offer the following options:
— A1 Part 1 for complete beginners: Wednesdays at 5:30 PM (few spots left) or 7:00 PM (1 spot left)
— A1 Part 2 for students who started in October 2024: Mondays at 7:00 PM or Thursdays at 5:45 PM

In the Level A1 (Part 1, 2 & 3) we cover Chapters 1-5 of the following books (not included in the course rate).

By the end of the course, you will be able to communicate in everyday situations, understand basic spoken and written Italian, and gain confidence in your language skills.
Here’s a look at what you will cover:
- Introductions and Greetings
Learn how to introduce yourself, ask basic questions, and greet others in different social settings.
- Basic Grammar and Sentence Structure
Familiarize yourself with Italian grammar essentials such as the present tense, subject pronouns, and simple sentence formation.
- Numbers, Dates, and Time
Master numbers, express dates, and tell time accurately.
- Talking About Yourself
Learn to describe yourself, your family, hobbies, and daily activities in Italian.
- Asking for Directions and Navigating Public Places
Practice vocabulary and phrases used for getting around cities, using transportation, and visiting places like restaurants and shops.
- Ordering in Restaurants and Shopping
Understand menus, order food and drinks, and engage in basic conversations while shopping.
Skills Acquired:
- Listening & Speaking: You will practice understanding spoken Italian in everyday contexts and develop your speaking ability through dialogues and role-plays.
- Reading & Writing: Engage with simple texts like short messages, menus, and signs. Write basic sentences and short texts about familiar topics.
Learning Outcomes:
By completing Italian Level A1, you will be able to:
- Understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases.
- Introduce yourself and others, ask and answer questions about personal details, such as where you live, people you know, and things you have.
- Interact in a simple way provided the other person speaks slowly and clearly.
