Italian Level B1 – Course Overview
Italian Level B1 is designed for students who have a solid foundation and are ready to expand their linguistic competence to a more intermediate level. This course focuses on improving fluency, accuracy, and the ability to interact more independently in various everyday and professional contexts.
Topics Covered:
- Engaging in Extended Conversations
Develop the skills to participate in more extended discussions about everyday topics, current events, and personal interests with greater fluidity and confidence.
- Describing Experiences, Events, and Aspirations
Learn how to clearly express experiences, recount events in detail, and discuss future plans, goals, and aspirations using both the past and future tenses.
- Handling More Complex Social Situations
Practice navigating social interactions such as giving detailed advice, expressing opinions, agreeing or disagreeing politely, and negotiating outcomes.
- Intermediate Grammar Structures
Gain a deeper understanding of Italian grammar, including the use of more complex tenses like the futuro semplice, condizionale, and congiuntivo presente.
- Making Hypotheses and Giving Advice
Learn to make hypothetical statements using the conditional mood and give recommendations in both formal and informal contexts.
- Understanding Italian News and Media
Engage with authentic materials such as news articles, radio programs, and interviews to improve your comprehension of Italian media.
Skills Acquired:
- Listening & Speaking: You will improve your ability to understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters and participate in conversations with improved fluency, covering a variety of familiar and less predictable topics.
- Reading & Writing: Read a wider range of texts, including news articles, letters, and opinion pieces. Write detailed texts, such as personal letters, essays, and emails, expressing your viewpoint or narrating events.

By completing Italian Level B1, you will be able to:
- Handle more complex everyday and professional situations, such as describing your work, managing travel arrangements, and participating in discussions on common topics.
- Express ideas, experiences, and opinions with greater accuracy, and describe personal events or aspirations using a variety of tenses.
