Italian Level B1+ – Course Overview
Italian Level B1+ is designed for students who have reached an intermediate level and wish to strengthen their communication skills, grammar accuracy, and cultural understanding. This course will enable you to engage in more complex conversations, express opinions with nuance, and enhance your confidence in various everyday and professional contexts.
Topics Covered:
- Fluency in Extended Discussions
Improve your ability to participate in discussions on familiar and abstract topics, such as work, travel, culture, and current events, with increased fluency and spontaneity.
- Complex Past and Future Narratives
Strengthen your ability to describe events in both past and future tenses, including more nuanced uses of imperfetto, passato prossimo, and futuro anteriore.
- Expressing Hypotheses and Conditions
Learn to make hypothetical statements, discuss possibilities, and express conditional ideas using the condizionale and congiuntivo tenses.
- Intermediate-Level Problem Solving and Negotiation
Practice more complex interactions, such as negotiating, resolving misunderstandings, making complaints, and proposing solutions in both formal and informal settings.
- Intermediate Grammar and Vocabulary Expansion
Deepen your knowledge of grammar, focusing on advanced verb tenses like the congiuntivo presente and congiuntivo passato, and refine your use of idiomatic expressions.
- Understanding Media, Culture, and Society
Engage with intermediate-level Italian media, including news, TV shows, and literature, to expand your cultural knowledge and improve comprehension.
Skills Acquired:
- Listening & Speaking: Improve your listening comprehension of longer dialogues, radio broadcasts, and discussions. Engage more confidently in conversations, expressing nuanced opinions, discussing abstract ideas, and handling complex social situations.
- Reading & Writing: Read a variety of more complex texts, such as opinion pieces, interviews, and short stories. Write essays, detailed emails, and formal or informal letters with greater coherence, using appropriate grammar and vocabulary.
Learning Outcomes:
By completing Italian Level B1+, you will be able to:
- Participate actively in conversations about a variety of familiar and abstract topics, using a broader range of language and expressions.
- Express opinions, make suggestions, and talk about hypothetical situations using the condizionale and congiuntivo tenses.
- Navigate more challenging real-life situations, such as giving formal advice, resolving conflicts, and proposing solutions in professional and social settings.
- Understand and analyze intermediate-level Italian media and texts, and write structured texts on topics of interest.
