Laura Trenta joined the team in 2024 as instructor for beginner Italian classes, bringing a creative and approachable teaching style that helps students gain confidence in their language skills. With a strong background in language education and a passion for cultural immersion, Laura ensures that each student feels supported as they embark on their Italian language journey.
Laura was born in Catania, in the Italian region of Sicily. After earning her high school diploma
from the Liceo Scientifico, she pursued her undergraduate studies at the Università di Catania,
majoring in foreign languages and literatures. She graduated in 2017 and then began a master’s
degree in international law and cooperation, completing it in 2020. In 2019, she participated in
an exchange program, studying for a year in Auburn, Alabama.
Following her master’s graduation, she enrolled in another master’s program at Auburn University, focusing on Spanish and various pedagogies for teaching foreign languages, and graduated in 2022. Afterward, she moved to Columbus, Ohio, to pursue a Ph.D. in Hispanic Linguistics at Ohio State University, where she specializes in teaching Spanish and Italian and conducts research on second language acquisition.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys reading and listening to music. She also loves to travel and hopes
to visit as many places as possible, both in the U.S. and abroad.
