Whether you are beginning your Italian journey or continuing toward advanced fluency, we are here to guide you every step of the way.

At Italian Dream Academy, learning Italian goes beyond grammar and vocabulary. Through language, culture, literature, travel, and meaningful connections, we help students build confidence and experience the beauty of the Italian language and culture.

Below you will find answers to the most common questions about our courses, programs, and community.


General Questions

Are classes online or in person?

All Italian Dream Academy group classes are held live online via Zoom, allowing students to join from anywhere.

In addition to our online classes, we organize in-person cultural events in Columbus, Ohio, including gatherings, book club meetings, and other Italian cultural experiences.


Can I join from outside Columbus or the United States?

Absolutely!

Our online format allows students to join Italian Dream Academy from anywhere. While we are based in Columbus, Ohio, our students come from many locations across the United States, including California, Georgia, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Florida, and many other states.

We also welcome students from around the world who want to learn Italian in a supportive and engaging online environment.

Please note that all class schedules are listed in U.S. Eastern Time (ET).


Do I need to have Italian heritage or previous experience with Italian?

Not at all!

Our students join us for many different reasons: travel, personal enrichment, connecting with Italian culture, family heritage, or simply the joy of learning a new language.

We welcome complete beginners as well as advanced students who want to continue improving their Italian.


What makes Italian Dream Academy different?

Italian Dream Academy is more than an Italian language school.

Our mission is to help students experience Italian through language, culture, literature, travel, and meaningful connections. We believe that learning a language is not only about grammar and vocabulary, but also about discovering the people, traditions, and stories behind the language.

Our classes are interactive, supportive, and designed to help students build confidence while becoming part of a welcoming community of Italian learners.


Classes & Levels

Which levels do you offer?

Italian Dream Academy offers courses from Beginner (A1) to Advanced Proficiency (C2), following the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).


How are the courses organized?

Each level is divided into three parts to allow students to progress gradually and build strong foundations.

How do I know which level is right for me?

If you are unsure which course to choose, we will help you find the level that best matches your current Italian skills and learning goals.


Which textbook do you use?

We use New Italian Espresso Update Editions by Alma Edizioni, one of the most respected Italian language textbook series for adult learners.


Do I need to purchase the textbook?

Yes. Students are responsible for purchasing the required textbook before the course begins.


Are classes interactive?

Absolutely!

Our classes focus on active participation, communication, and building confidence in Italian. Students practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing while engaging with authentic language and cultural materials.


How many students are in each class?

We intentionally keep our classes small to encourage interaction, participation, and individual attention.

This allows students to actively participate and receive personalized feedback from the instructor.


What if I miss a class?

Classes are recorded and made available to enrolled students so they can review the lesson or catch up if they are unable to attend live.


Summer Classes

Do you offer classes during the summer?

Yes!

During the summer, Italian Dream Academy offers special courses designed to help students continue learning Italian, review previous material, and prepare for the next academic year.


What type of summer classes do you offer?

Our summer program includes:

Topical Classes

Summer topical classes are designed as a refresh and review opportunity for students who want to maintain their Italian, strengthen specific skills, and prepare for the fall session.

These courses focus on selected language areas such as grammar review, pronunciation, vocabulary, culture, and other topics based on students’ interests and needs.

Intensive A1 Beginner Course

We also offer an intensive A1 course for students who want to begin their Italian journey during the summer.

This course introduces the foundations of Italian, including essential vocabulary, grammar structures, pronunciation, and everyday communication skills.

Enrollment & Policies

Do you offer trial classes?

We do not offer trial classes. However, we are happy to answer your questions and help you choose the best course before enrolling.


What if I am between two levels?

If you are between levels, we will help you determine the best option. Sometimes reviewing previous material is the best way to build confidence before moving forward.


Can I join a course after it has already started?

In some cases, yes. Late enrollment depends on the course level, timing, and availability.

What is your refund policy?

Course fees are non-refundable.

However, if your plans change, you may:


Certificates

Will I receive a certificate?

Yes!

Students who successfully complete their course may request a Certificate of Completion from Italian Dream Academy.


Additional Learning Opportunities

Do you offer private lessons?

Yes!

We offer private and semi-private lessons designed around your goals, schedule, and learning needs.


Can I combine private lessons with a group class?

Absolutely.

Many students combine group classes with private lessons to receive additional practice or focus on specific areas of Italian.


Do you offer conversation classes?

Yes!

Our conversation classes are designed for students who want to strengthen their speaking skills, improve fluency, and gain confidence communicating in Italian.

Conversation classes have a smaller format (4–6 students) to maximize speaking time and interaction.


Book Club

Do I need to be an Italian Dream Academy student to participate in the Book Club?

No!

The Italian Dream Academy Book Club is open to everyone interested in Italian literature and culture. You do not need to be enrolled in one of our language courses to participate.


What language is the Book Club conducted in?

Book Club discussions are primarily conducted in Italian and are especially designed for intermediate and advanced learners.


Study Abroad Programs

Does Italian Dream Academy organize trips to Italy?

Yes!

Italian Dream Academy offers small-group study abroad programs in Italy that combine language immersion, cultural experiences, and authentic travel.

Our programs are designed to help students experience Italy beyond the classroom and practice Italian in real-life situations.
